ArkPSA is seeking a new treasurer

Chris Housenick’s term is beginning to wind down with fourteen years on the Executive Board and the last five years as the ArkPSA’s Treasurer.

This position is excellent for junior faculty looking for “Service to the Profession” in their tenure and promotion portfolios.

There are two overarching expectations for the ArkPSA Treasurer:

  1. They attend the ArkPSA Annual Meetings every year.
  2. They hold the office for five years (because of the executive board actions and bank paperwork necessary when changing Treasurers).

Here is the timeline for finding a new treasurer:

  • Nominations for Treasurer should be emailed to Chris Housenick (chousenick@atu.edu) by Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:00 PM.
  • Nominees will be discussed by the Executive Board on Friday, March 6th.
  • There may be a vote for a new Treasurer at the ArkPSA Business Meeting on Friday, March 6th.
  • In 2026 – 2027, the new Treasurer shadows Chris Housenick to learn the job.
  • In 2027 – 2028, the new Treasurer takes full responsibility for the job.

The Duties of Treasurer are:

  • Manage ArkPSA’s Regions Bank and PayPal accounts and maintain the financial records for the Association.
  • Fill out ArkPSA’s annual non-profit online paperwork with the IRS and the Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office.
  • Communicate effectively with the ArkPSA President, Webmaster, Secretary, and the Program Chair of the Annual Meetings.
  • Produce the Annual Financial Report for the Executive Board of the Arkansas Political Science Association.
  • Pay for the printing of the Midsouth Political Science Review.
  • Perform the following activities for the Annual Meetings:
    • Help set prices for the conference.
    • Collect payments and conference registrations online.
    • Pay bills for conference vendors.
    • Pay for travel and an honorarium for conference keynote speakers.
    • Pay out awards for Best Faculty, Graduate, and Undergraduate Papers.
