The Midsouth Political Science Review (MPSR), which is the journal of the
Arkansas
Political Science Association (ArkPSA), is published annually and
distributed without charge to all current members of the
association. The MPSR solicits article manuscripts,
research notes, and book review submissions across all fields of the discipline of political science,
including American government & politics, public administration,
public policy, political theory, comparative politics, and
international relations. Manuscripts dealing
with Arkansas politics are especially encouraged. The MPSR is copyrighted and manuscripts are
peer-reviewed anonymously.
The current editor of
the MPSR is Dr. John Passe-Smith, University of Central Arkansas.
Associate Editors are Dr. Kim Hoffman and Dr. Mark Mullenbach of
the University of Central
Arkansas. Contributors should
preferably submit their
manuscripts via email to the Editor at
johnp@uca.edu. Hard copies (4)
of article manuscripts may also be sent to the Editor at the
following address (the name and affiliation of the
author/authors should only be listed on the cover page of one of

Instructions to Contributors
Article and Research Note Submissions:
Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word or Word Perfect format. All
graphs, maps, tables, and art work should be positioned in their
appropriate places within the text. American Political Science
Review (APSR) style should be followed for
citations and references (see link
to APSR style manuel). Please include a brief abstract of the
paper. Contact the Editor for
further information or questions. Article and research note
submissions should be accompanied by a contributor biography of each
of the contributors of the manuscript, including current position
and rank; university, college, or organization affiliation; e-mail
address; contact telephone number; and mailing address. The
Editor regards submission of a manuscript to the MPSR as a
commitment by a contributor not to submit that work to another
publication while it is under consideration by the journal.
Book Review Submissions:
The MPSR publishes reviews of scholarly books, as well
as monographs and reports published by well-known and regarded
organizations. Works that are reviewed must have been
published within the previous three years. Reviews of
individual books must contain three important components: (1) the
review provides readers with a sophisticated overview of the
contents of the work; (2) the review addresses the contribution of
the work within the appropriate body of literature; and (3) the
review provides a critique that identifies the strengths and
weaknesses of the work as compared to the stated goals of the book
and the existing literature in the field. Contributors are
also invited to submit reviews of multiple works. In this
case, the contributor should accomplish the three tasks set out
above, as well as illuminating the common theme(s) running through
the reviewed works. Reviews of individual books should be
approximately 5-6 pages, double-spaced, while reviews of multiple
works should be 12-20 pages, double-spaced.
Unsolicited reviews are welcome; however,
potential authors are encouraged to obtain prior approval from the
Editor. Reviews will be subject to Editorial Board review and
their publication can not be guaranteed. Reviews should be
accompanied by a contributor biography of each of the contributors
of the manuscript, including current position and rank; university,
college, or organization affiliation; e-mail address; contact
telephone number; and mailing address. The Editor regards
submission of a manuscript to the MPSR as a commitment by a
contributor not to submit that work to another publication while it
is under consideration by the journal.
